Sean Lund is the Messaging Research Director for the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), an independent think tank that provides rigorous research, insight and analysis that help speed equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. His work at MAP focuses on developing approaches for effective messaging and communications across a broad range of LGBT equality issues.

Sean has led the development of messaging research and resources for talking about nondiscrimination protections for LGBT people, countering overbroad religious exemptions, building effective conversations about marriage and other equality issues with Latinos and Hispanics, discussing parenting and adoption by LGBT families, and developing safe messages for talking about suicide and LGBT populations.

Prior to joining MAP, Sean served for 11 years with GLAAD, where he directed the organization’s messaging program and research initiatives, created resources for journalists and community members (including the GLAAD Media Reference Guide), and oversaw movement capacity-building work in the areas of message development and communications strategy.
